@DragonballUncut the capacity on the disc means that they can add more data to it. Blu ray players use a blue laser and the HD DVD use a red laser. The blue laser can read data much more accurate so they can move the data info closer together on the disc so they can ultimately fit more onto a disc.

The issue is Mr Min Kyu Choi has chosen to ignore the requirements and designed a product which cannot be approved for sale. A number of award judges who should have known better got very excited about the design and made him a winner. Many people seem to think they cannot not live without one! But, it is just not going to reach the market.

The UK had extreme financial problems after the war and to save money the ring circuit was devised to my understanding. This was a way of supplying double the amperage whilst keeping the cost of copper down. Since this cheaper system did not allow for descrete protection of every dedicted circuit anymore since it was now essentially a bus (unlike a star config), the cheap alternative was to fuse each plug.

@trident3b Still confused it seems. RCDs operate on very low current imbalances to protect aginst the effect of electric shock when a body makes a circuit between a live connection and ground. Circuit breakers provide protection against overcurrent situations. The two devices are often mounted in the same distribution unit, and occasionally combined. Both devices have been used in UK for many years although the LEGAL requirement to use RCDs is more recent. Fused plugs are required in the UK.

Having lived in Germany nearly all my life I have seen the functionality of the trip circuits (which I believe you are referring to with RCD) and they protect, as you describe, but often also trip when user equipment is at fault (although the internal fuse of eg a radio which might be 1 amp is supposed to). It appears that UK spec ring circuits require the fused plugs because the UK still has such a vast number of way outdated ring circuits.

RCDs are very important, but have little to do with the subject under discussion. An RCD is the backstop defence if a person has come into contact with a live part. @M100S2 regarding the fuse in the plug, how is a 13 amp fuse going to make anything safe? You need 13 amps to burn that fuse. In which scenario does the plug fuse break? A human carrying 13 A will die. Re sleeves, they were introduced as UK wall sockets are dangerous as flat, not countersunk as here on continent. With a UK plug in the past it was poss' to touch the pins whilst still under power. Sleeves needed to be introduced. UK system no safer at all. 'Legacy installs" still very wide spread.

@trident3b The IET and the HSE (iirc) have published statistics that show that electrocutions and fires from fixed and movable wiring in the UK are very low and below that of most (all?) other 'western' nations. We moved to RCD's and MCB's a very long time ago although legacy installations still exist with fuses. Fuses in the plug, with shuttered sockets, sleeved pins and specific approval on every single plug design ensure that the plug / socket interface is as safe as it can be.

that's doesn't even make sense. If something looks bad, you can't improve by compressing it further. H.264 is designed to keep as much quality as possible while compressing it. It's not lossless, which means every time you compress it with that codec, it loses quality. No matter what codec you use, it's impossible to actually improve the quality of a video, by just encoding it.

@Brandennarc When you are going to render the video in Sony Vegas you have to select the whole video clip to render it. Try selecting it and then rendering it should work. good luck! :)

I saw an ad for this on the train and the fact that it has been banned is a joke. It does what it sets out to do and shows the horrors of MND. I think the way it has been done is brill. It needs to be shown in such as shocking manner to make people sit down and listen. By doing it in any less of a shocking way would have defeated the point of the video. MND is awful and that is what the video is trying to convey.

I agree that the violent nature of the ad doesn't really say anything about MND - in fact interferes with a person's contemplation of it - but I'd take it a step further. While I think the violent attack was the wrong way to play it, the message of this video as-is would've been just as effective if they hadn't ripped her clothes off. The horror-movie tactic of an invisible attacker trivializes the message, victimizes the survivor, THEN likens it all to a sexual assault. Big budget, bad writing.

Which graphics has been used for this benchmark? As far as i know my cpu utilization on a dual core 2.5ghz e5200 cpu while playing 1080p is around 50-90% while your atom is utilized to only around 50-60%...Cant be unless your using some pretty good graphics or using a hardware decoder.

My recommandation is getting an AMD AM2 cpu with a 780G chipset mobo. They come in mini-itx (uses laptop ram instead of normal ram)or mATX. The 780G can handle Blu-Ray n HD DVD on hardware n if u get a dvi to hdmi cable u can output straight to a HDTV.

At that point a lot of ppl will look for the cheapest/performance intel cpu to pair with that igp for standard PC use. Which means their main stream n higher lines will take a hit. Anyways, if ppl wanted cheap/high performance Dx10, AMD X2 cpus with the 780G n 790G chipsets r by leagues better than anything intel mobo/cpu combo.

Now when you click a HD mov file in Apple's Trailer Quicktime Alternative will download the file or play on media player classic. I suggest download. Secondly, it will rename the hdmov.This is to enable optimised filters in MPC to play the mov efficiently with directshow filters. With CoreAVC you can play it no problem. Otherwise I will make a short video with the renamed hdmov and name it back to mov then run it again unoptimised.

Nice Video. The ION platform is pretty beast like since it only takes up power in the single digits of watts and can output 1080p. They managed to fit in a processor with a graphics chip almost as powerful as my PC's (Geforce 9600gt) into a size smaller than half my video cards'. I think nVidia is about to phase out the Geforce 9400's in favor of their new gt210/220 when they get along with Intel again. That is until both companies start producing systems complete w/ their own CPUs & GPUs soon.
