Clegg then told the gathered audience he would never form a coalition with Cameron. I'll repeat myself - CRA-covered banks had a better record of responsible lending than non-CRA banks. And if the CRA supposedly caused the sub-prime boom, what took it so long? Subprime mortgages accounted for 9 percent of all mortgages from 1996 through 2004. This rose to 21 percent from 2004 through 2006 - ten years after the CRA was passed.

your not taking into consideration how the CRA affected supply and demand. It artificially inflated housing prices and then during the deflation of the housing bubble you started seeing homeowners the were upside down(owe more than home is worth) that couldn't get rid of their homes. None of this would have happened if we didn't have the huge new influx of home buyers from the CRA that shouldn't have been able to buy homes. also, when CRA homes got foreclosed on it affects everyone's home value
